ALLY & BRITTANY: Hello, Hello!
ALLY: As most of you know, Hand Waves Birth Services is established and owned by both of us, two Deaf doulas. We want to share something that we are really proud of.
BRITTANY: We strongly believe in and support Deaf-owned businesses. We use Deaf-owned businesses when we need services and resources.
ALLY: For example: we use Deaf photographers for our professional headshots,
BRITTANY: we used a Deaf graphic designer to create our logo,
ALLY: a Deaf web developer designed and manages our website,
BRITTANY: we use Deaf-owned printing companies to print baby onesies and other shirts,
ALLY: and we use Deaf bakers for sweets to share at our gatherings.
ALLY & BRITTANY: That is… DEAF ECOSYSTEM.
ALLY: Deaf Ecosystem is a network of community support via interconnecting and interacting within Deaf businesses. Our Deaf community is unique as we have our own culture and our own language. By using each other, we have full access to our world.
BRITTANY: If we invest in Deaf Ecosystem by buying from each other, hiring each other, using each other, and showing support including sharing information with one another, our Deaf community will thrive.
ALLY: By using resources within our Deaf community, we are keeping each other’s dreams alive.
BRITTANY: On our website, we have a directory of Deaf-owned businesses and businesses specifically for the Deaf to help families navigate through available resources in one place. Please contact us if you know of more resources we should add to this list.
ALLY: Please also tag below Deaf-owned businesses you know of, so that we can all continue to support each other.
ALLY & BRITTANY: Hand Waves Birth Services value Deaf Ecosystem!
